Ty Stroudsburg grew up in New Jersey, and attended college at Paterson State University. While there, she exhibted an early painting at the Montclair Art Museum. Ty moved to Southampton in 1963 and continued to work in abstraction. Gradually, she began to incorporate the colors and broad expanses of the East End landscape into her work, while maintaining the heightened colors and expressionistic brushwork of her former abstractions.
Her paintings are in many private collections, as well as the Heckscher Museum, Guild Hall, and the Long Island Museum in Stony Brook. She is represented in Long Island Landscape Painting, Vol. II, by Ronald G. Pisano, and currently exhibits her work with Spanierman Gallery, LLC in Manhattan.
